After 48 hours of the innovation express that was organized by the Makerere University Business School(MUBS) Entrepreneurship in conjunction with the MUBS ICT center sponsored by MasterCard and MasterCard Labs, Teheca came out victorious as one of the two team that had a compiling innovation and business plan.
So what does this mean for Teheca, the two winning teams where both awarded prices of USD 2500 to continue the development of their product the Teheca app , a mobile app aimed at providing an alternative source of timely health care workforce for the Uganda community by creating access to qualified health workers by the click of a button, simply put, “To Uberize health care in Uganda” also a 6 month incubation period in under the MUBS entrepreneurship center.
Ivon Jerry a marketer at MasterCard Kenya encouraged the rest of the teams not to sit back but rather to continue working on their ideas.
Rehma Namutangula, the Focal person for the Entrepreneurship Incubation and Innovation Hub, thanked the MUBS Entrepreneurship Centre for facilitating the Business Incubator where entrepreneurs come with unique business ideas and they are incubated.
She encouraged people to always approach the Entrepreneurship Centre with their ideas for guidance. She also thanked MasterCard Kenya for their support and partnership with MUBS.
“Today we have made history not only in MUBS but also in Africa because the 48 Hour Innovation Express Program by MasterCard labs Kenya is the first of its kind to run in Africa,” she said.
There were 10 teams which participated in this competition. They include; Campus Foodz, Ffena Tukole, Health Gifting Point, Teheca, Digital Waste Managers, Giraal Africa, Smart Business Centre, Permaculture Mobile Application, NutriConnect and Digital Notice Board.
